Overview

This course will provide an overview on the principles, concepts and techniques relevant to several aspects of Guided Weapons Design including propulsion, aerodynamic, guidance & control and structural design. In addition, this course also covers the warhead technologies and current state of art.

This course is suitable for the defence professionals and new graduates who require a general overview of guided weapon technology and design.

Learning objectives

– Describe the elements that make up a guided weapon system

– Comprehend the underlying principles of thermodynamics and gas dynamics as applied thermomechanical jet propulsion

– Discuss the principles involved and the design constraints on guided weapon airframe, propulsion, warhead, control and guidance systems and how these subsystems interact with one another

– Understand the operating features of military rocket systems and the parameters used to assess their performance

– Explain the principles of radar, IR and laser technology and how these technologies are used in guided weapon systems.
